Weidemiller terminal series development history

In the light of Industry 4.0, customised, highly flexible and self-controlling production units often still seem to be a vision of the future. As a progressive thinker and trailblazer, Weidmuller already offers concrete solutions that allow producing companies to prepare themselves for the “Industrial Internet of Things” and for safe production control from the Cloud - without the need to modernise their entire range of machinery.
Recently, we have seen Weidmüller's newly released SNAP IN mousetrap principle connection technology. For such a small component, it is an important link to ensure the reliability of the factory automatic control system. Now let us review the development history of Weidmüller terminals. The following content is excerpted from the product introduction of terminals on Weidmüller's official website.

1. History of Weidmüller Terminal Blocks<

1)1948 - SAK series (screw connection)
Introduced in 1948, the Weidmüller SAK series already has all the important features of modern terminal blocks, including cross-section options and a marking system. SAK terminal blocks, which are still very popular even today.

2) 1983 - W series (screw connection)
Weidmüller's W series of modular terminal blocks not only use polyamide material with fire protection class V0, but also for the first time use a patented pressure rod with integrated centering mechanism. Weidmüller's W-series terminal blocks have been on the market for almost 40 years and are still the most versatile terminal block series on the world market.

3) 1993 - Z series (shrapnel connection)
The Z series from Weidmüller sets the market standard for terminal blocks in spring clip technology. This connection technique compresses the wires with shrapnel rather than tightening them with screws. Weidmüller Z-series terminals are currently used worldwide in many different industries and applications.

5) 2016 - A series (PUSH IN in-line connection technology)
Weidmüller's terminal blocks with systematized modular functions caused a huge sensation. For the first time, in the Weidmüller A series of terminal blocks, several sub-series have been specially developed for the application. The uniform inspection and test head, consistent cross-connection channels, efficient marking system, and time-saving PUSH IN in-line connection technology bring particularly outstanding forward-looking to the A series.

6) 2021 - AS series (SNAP IN mousetrap principle)
The innovative result of Weidmuller's innovation is the terminal block with SNAP IN squirrel cage connection technology. With the AS series, flexible conductors can be easily, quickly and tool-free wired without wire ends
