Wago invests 50 million euros to build new global central warehouse

Recently, electrical connection and automation technology supplier WAGO held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new international logistics center in Sondershausen, Germany. This is Vango's largest investment and largest construction project at present, with an investment of over 50 million euros. This new energy-saving building is expected to be put into operation by the end of 2024 as a top central warehouse and international logistics center.

With the completion of the new logistics center, Vanco's logistics capabilities will be significantly improved. Diana Wilhelm, Vice President of Wago Logistics, said, "We will continue to ensure a high level of distribution services and build a future-oriented scalable logistics system to meet the needs of future customers." The technology investment in the new central warehouse alone is as high as 25 million euros.

As with all WAGO's new-build projects, the new central warehouse in Sundeshausen attaches great importance to energy efficiency and resource conservation. Environmentally friendly building materials and insulation materials are used in construction. The project will also feature an efficient power supply system: the new building is equipped with advanced heat pumps and solar systems to generate electricity internally.

Throughout the development of the warehouse site, in-house expertise played a key role. The new central warehouse incorporates WAGO’s many years of intralogistics expertise. "Especially in an era of increasing digitalization and automation, this expertise helps us achieve sustainable development of the site and provide long-term security for the future of the site. This expansion not only helps us keep pace with today's technological developments , and also safeguard long-term employment opportunities in the area." said Dr. Heiner Lang.

Currently, more than 1,000 employees work at the Sondershausen site, making WAGO one of the largest employers in northern Thuringia. Due to the high degree of automation, the demand for skilled workers and technicians will continue to increase. This is one of the many reasons why WAGO chose to locate its new central warehouse in Sundeshausen, demonstrating WAGO's confidence in long-term development.
