On September 6, local time, Siemens and the People's Government of Guangdong Province signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement during Governor Wang Weizhong's visit to Siemens headquarters (Munich). The two parties will carry out comprehensive strategic cooperation in the fields of digitalization, low-carbonization, innovative research and development, and talent training. Strategic cooperation helps Guangdong Province to accelerate the construction of a modern industrial system and promote high-quality economic development.
Governor Wang Weizhong and Cedrik Neike, member of the board of directors of Siemens AG and CEO of Digital Industries Group, witnessed the signing of the agreement on site. Ai Xuefeng, Director of the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission, and Shang Huijie, Senior Vice President of Siemens (China), signed the agreement on behalf of the two parties. In May 2018, Siemens signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation framework agreement with the Guangdong Provincial Government. This renewal will push the cooperation between the two parties to a deeper level in the digital era and bring about a broader space.
According to the agreement, the two parties will carry out in-depth cooperation in the fields of industrial manufacturing, intelligent infrastructure, R&D and innovation, and personnel training. Siemens will rely on advanced digital technology and profound industry accumulation to help Guangdong's advanced manufacturing industry develop toward digitalization, intelligence, and greenness, and actively participate in the coordinated development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to support the construction of a world-class metropolitan area. The two parties will also realize the development and improvement from talent training, teaching cooperation, integration of production and education, and even industrial empowerment through co-creation and combination of production, education and research.
The earliest cooperation between Siemens and Guangdong can be traced back to 1929
Over the years, Siemens has actively participated in the construction of major infrastructure projects and the training of digital industrial talents in Guangdong Province, with its business involving industry, energy, transportation and infrastructure. Since 1999, many global senior managers of Siemens AG have served as economic advisors to the governor of Guangdong Province, actively providing suggestions for Guangdong's industrial upgrading, innovative development, and green and low-carbon city construction. Through strategic cooperation with the Guangdong Provincial Government and enterprises, Siemens will further strengthen the transformation of innovative achievements in the Chinese market and work with many important partners to promote technological progress, industrial upgrading and sustainable development.
