Moxa, a leader in industrial communications and networking, announced that its net-zero goal has been reviewed by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). This means that Moxa will more actively respond to the Paris Agreement and help the international community limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C.
To achieve these net-zero emission goals, Moxa has identified three major sources of carbon emissions - purchased products and services, use of sold products, and electricity consumption, and has developed three core decarbonization strategies based on these sources - low-carbon operations, low-carbon product design, and low-carbon value chain.

Strategy 1: Low-carbon operations
Electricity consumption is the primary source of Moxa’s carbon emissions. Moxa works with external carbon emission experts to continuously monitor energy-consuming equipment in production and office spaces, regularly evaluate energy efficiency, analyze the characteristics and energy consumption of high-energy-consuming equipment, and then take corresponding adjustment and optimization measures to improve energy efficiency and replace old equipment.
Strategy 2: Low-carbon product design
In order to empower customers on their decarbonization journey and improve market competitiveness, Moxa puts low-carbon product development first.
Modular product design is a major tool for Moxa to create low-carbon products, helping customers reduce their carbon footprint. Moxa's new UPort series of USB-to-serial converters introduces high-performance power modules with energy efficiency higher than the industry average, which can reduce energy consumption by up to 67% under the same usage conditions. Modular design also improves product flexibility and lifespan, and reduces maintenance difficulties, which makes Moxa's next-generation product portfolio more advantageous.
In addition to adopting modular product design, Moxa also follows lean design principles and strives to optimize packaging materials and reduce packaging volume.
Strategy 3: Low-carbon value chain
As a global leader in the industrial Internet, Moxa strives to help supply chain partners promote low-carbon transformation.
2023 -
Moxa assists all subcontractors in developing third-party certified greenhouse gas inventories.
2024 -
Moxa further cooperates with high-carbon emission suppliers to provide guidance on carbon emission tracking and emission reduction.
In the future -
Moxa will also require supply chain partners to set and implement carbon reduction targets to jointly move towards the goal of net zero emissions in 2050.
